the linux keymaps are a mess - some keymaps have the +2 shift, some don't. so it will always be broken for someone. that makes the patch kinda pointless.

only if the keyboard does not have F11 and F12? otherwise shift-f1 and f11 are the same
how many such keyboards?

Your patch breaks the default working key bindings. They just work, believe me. If they don't work for you, please fix your buggy distro.
