Confirmation for what actions exactly?
There is no any changes related to confirmations in the codebase for a very long time.
Probably, your settings are not saved. Please check permissions for all mc configuration directories and files in your home directory: ~/.config/mc, ~/.cache/mc, ~/.local/share/mc.

Confirmation for what actions exactly?

For example, removal of files and folders

Replying to mcgiwer:

For example, removal of files and folders

Cannot confirm. Work fine for me.
Please check you configuration.

That strange. I use the recent avaliable on my AntiX (build on Debian with codename "bookworm) version of mc, in the settings -> confirmations everything is unchecked and while removal of many files or folders, it ask if I'm sure to remove them 🤔

What version of mc is that? Did you check permissions on the configuration directories?

comment:6 Changed 3 weeks ago by mcgiwer

The latest version of mc avaliable thru Debian's repository is wroten (when displaying thru the dpkg) as "3:4.8.29-2"

The latest is 4.8.31 and it's available in Debian testing. We also have backports on our Binaries page.

I had messaged the repository maintainer for an update, but for now there is no answer or confirmation

Why would you do this? You could install the latest version from the binaries page I mentioned if you don't want to compile from source.
