developers should download tarballs, verify checksums, compile and locally install. If everything is ok than developers keep votes in ticket

Could someone please point me to that special upload area, or send the tarball in e-mail attachment to egmont gmail com?

I'd like to double check that the tarball compiles fine on Mac OS, as it was broken 4.8.1.

I cannot run autogen.sh on my Mac for whatever reason, so I can't work from git, only from tarballs.

Checksum matches, compiles and installs fine for me on Mac 10.6.8. Thanks!

Have modified Tarballs and checksums because was some troubles with translations from Transifex.
