https://midnight-commander.org/browser/contrib/dist:

contrib/dist/gentoo contains REDME only.
contrib/dist/redhat is untouched for years. Does anybody use mc.spec from there?
contrib/dist/{pkginfo,prototype}.in are untouched more then decade. Are they used enywhere.

Actually, contrib/dist/ is not supported and can be removed.
