(@zyv)it's nicer if the scripts in the repository already have the permissions they'll have after being installed.
for me this actually has a technical reason - i'm doing "fake installation" which hardlinks the files instead of copying (which is faster and saves disk space), so after the install target is through with changing the permissions, my git repository shows modified files.
